RECRUITMENT AND TRAINING

We pride ourselves on the experience and workmanship of our engineers.

Any vacancies that occur are advertised in the local papers and at the job centre. We operate and equal opportunities policy and any advertisement must be in line with this policy.

We do have difficulty recruiting trained gas service engineers and we have a policy of engaging young people as apprentices and train them ourselves. This has proved to be very successful and many have remained with us after they have qualified. We have at this moment two apprentices who are attending the local college on a day release scheme. In the past we have employed older staff who have been retrained on the Sure Start programme; this is for the long time unemployed who wish to retrain.

We work alongside Tameside Education Business Partnership to help young people to prepare for adult life and gain works experience.

All staff are encouraged to attend training courses that are relevant to their job. All Corgi registered operatives must be assessed every five years.

We keep a library of journals, trade magazines, and manufactures literature in the main office and our staff are encouraged to use these facilities.
